Dear friends, we would like to invite you to participate in the All-European Vyshyvanka March on Sunday, May 22nd at 12 pm, St. Peter’s Church Drogheda to demonstrate our cherished legacy here, in Ireland.
Embroidery is the oldest element of Ukrainian culture, which has been passed down through the generations.Archaeological finds of the Paleolithic period, particular near Mizin in the Chernihiv region, testify to the presence of embroidery in Ukraine.
Our Vyshyvanka is not just a piece of garment, embroidered with colourful threads. It is our rich tradition, our genetic code, reflecting of our national strength and ancestors’ experience.
What you see on our embroidered shirt is not just a pattern, it is our unique identification symbol, that represented a family tree from every region and that was recognized by other people.
We are inviting our Irish and international friends and asking them to wear their GAA jerseys in solidarity with our embroidery clothes.
