As part of the work of the Ukrainian Saturday School, the Ukrainian community in County Cavan organizes an educational event for children on the Day of Remembrance of the Holodomor Victims.
Every year on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukrainians around the world commemorate the Holodomor victims. November 26, 2022 will be the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933.
As part of the work of the Ukrainian Saturday School, the community in County Cavan organizes an educational event for children on the Day of Remembrance of the Holodomor Victims. We will carefully tell the children why this happened, why food should be valued, and especially bread, we will show a children’s video about the Holodomor, and we will make flowers of memory and light candles.
The event will take place on Saturday 26.11.2022, 14:00-14:30, at Terry Coyle Park, Cavan.
We invite all parents and their children to join the event. Yes, this is a sad page in the history of our people and a great tragedy, but we have no moral right to forget about it, we must remember the victims of the genocide and do everything to prevent this from happening again!
We also call on Ukrainians to join the campaign “Light the candle”. Wherever you are – at home, in any region of Ukraine or abroad, on the evening of November 26, you need to light a candle in the window as a manifestation of grief for the dead and faith in the victory of Ukrainians in the near future.
This year, the slogan of the global campaign to commemorate the Holodomor is “We Remember, Unite, and Shall Overcome.”
