On May 8, 2022, Ukrainians and Irish marched peacefully in Dublin City centre, side by side. This event was organised by the Ukrainian Action initiative and brought together thousands of Europeans who want peace for both Ukraine and the world.
Every year on this day, for 77 years, the whole world celebrates the victory over Nazism and commemorates the terrible price it cost. Unfortunately, this year is a particularly difficult experience, because history has returned.
Now Ukraine is suffering from racists who are repeating those terrible crimes against humanity. Ukrainians are protecting the world from the ruZZian aggressor by paying a huge price: their own lives.
That’s why Barry Andrews, MEP, John Michan, the European Network of Solidarity with Ukraine, Mary Lou MacDonald, leader Sheenne Fein and Teachta Dála from Dublin Central District, and many other international figures marched that day.
We thank the European diplomats in Ireland who made speeches in support of Ukraine:
Larysa Herasko – Ambassador of Ukraine
Anna Sochanska – Ambassador of Poland
Marius Gudinas is the Ambassador of Lithuania
Georgy Zurabashvili is the Ambassador of Georgia
Edite Medne – Deputy Head of the Latvian Embassy
We, Ukrainians, thank all the Irish who joined us at the event and for the generous support of Ukraine! We are grateful for the understanding and awareness that the phrase “NEVER AGAIN” has now acquired a real context and obliges us to defend European principles from a common ruZZist enemy!
