On February 26, an evening of music, poetry and singing was held in Kinegard, dedicated to the memory of victims of the war in Ukraine, with the assistance of the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland and the Welcome Group of the Kinegard Parish. Those present had the opportunity to enjoy Irish music, as well as see and listen to our talented Ukrainians, who brought a piece of the Ukrainian soul to Irish culture.
The performers of Ukrainian songs, Serhiy and Olena, Jonas Krauklis from Lithuania, the Choir of the Ukrainian Diaspora from the city of Sligo, the band “Glory to Ukraine” (Serhiy Balan, Roman Sulima, Jonas Krauklis) were pleasantly surprised by the musical compositions of the harmonium by Tetiana Guley and on the bandura by Natalia Bumbaluskaite, Nina Yelenchuk, who performed a traditional Ukrainian dance, as well as poetry readings from Ukrainian poet Nadia Postemska, poetry performed by Alina Mozherina, Daithi O’Malley and Derek Butler.
A pleasant bonus of a good evening was that during the concert it was possible to collect 1015 euros for the humanitarian needs of Ukraine.
The holiday ended with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine and Ireland.
