On April 16, 2023, Eastern Rite Christians, which include Ukrainians, will celebrate Easter – the greatest holiday in the church calendar dedicated to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
With the support of the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland, on April 15, Saturday, an Easter service will be held in Cavan in Ukrainian.
The festive liturgy will be performed by the priest Father Vasily from the Ukrainian Church.
Divine service and consecration of festive dishes will take place on April 15 at 9:00 pm at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick and Saint Felim, Farnham Street H12 X977 County Cavan.
We invite Ukrainians living in County Cavan and neighboring counties to join the common prayer and glorification of the Risen Christ!
At this difficult time for Ukraine, we, Ukrainians, must be united and pray for our state, for victorious peace and harmony in Ukraine.
We will also be sincerely glad to see our Irish friends at the event to acquaint them with Ukrainian traditions.
On Easter day itself, it is customary to collect various products, Easter cakes and Easter eggs in a basket. The whole family goes to church for worship and sanctifies food there. Then at home, the family sits down at the festive table, and the meal always begins with an Easter egg. For dessert, they eat Easter cakes and try not to let a single crumb fall to the floor.
