Events in the county Cavan dedicated to the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine
Events
February 24, 2023 will be one of the saddest anniversaries in the history of Ukraine. On this day in 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. But this war has been going on for the past 9 years.
The Kremlin orchestrates hostilities, violating all possible norms of international law. Genocide of Ukrainians is taking place in every occupied city and village – murders, torture & violence are taking place. Children, women and elderly people die every day. Millions are forced to seek safety abroad.
The brave Ukrainian military forces aren’t only defending themselves, their land and families, but the whole world at the cost of their lives. The Ukrainians are holding back an insane aggressor who threatens to turn the planet into nuclear waste.
The Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland (AURI) joins the initiative of the Ukrainian World Congress to remind the world, with the single voice of the world Ukrainian community, about the 365 days of the unprovoked brutal war that Russia unleashed against Ukraine, to strengthen global support from the governments of democratic countries, and to honor the memory of the victims of this war.
On February 24, 2023, the Ukrainian community in Cavan, with the support of the local authorities, will hold events dedicated to the anniversary of the full-scale war. We’re calling on all Ukrainians who have been sheltered by Ireland to take an active part in all the events! Invite your Irish friends. We must thank them for their support on this day and remind the whole world that the war, unfortunately, is going on.
